To mark 31st May’s World No Tobacco Day, NICORETTE’, Britain’s leading provider of nicotine replacement therapy[1], has announced that it will be launching a new smoking cessation campaign called ‘Join the Quitters’. 

 

The team at NICORETTE’ believe that quitting smoking is an amazing achievement, but it can also be one of the hardest things you’ll ever do. From all the quitters that the team at NICORETTE’ have helped all over the world for the last 40 years, they know that once you quit, even more amazing things can become possible. This campaign is a celebration of all those determined people who are trying to quit smoking – the brilliant, brave ‘Quitters’. We want them to know that they’re doing something amazing, and that they’re not alone.

 

The initiative aims to challenge the way that people think about quitting, sharing stories of real quitters and celebrating their successes within a wider quit smoking support community. The campaign will turn what it means to be a ‘quitter’ on its head, highlighting the importance of a support community to inspire a movement. As many as 75% of quitters relapse so getting support from others can be crucial to maintaining smoking abstinence. To help quitters reach their goal of permanent cessation it is crucial to understand the factors that can derail their quit journey or improve their chances of finally breaking free of smoking for good. Having a strong support network and making connections with other quitters can help them stay on track along their journey.

A regional pilot of the ‘Join the Quitters’ campaign launched on the 6th May, targeting the North East of England, an area that over indexes in smoking prevalence in the UK. The national campaign will follow on 3rd June, launching with a full 360 media campaign to include TV, digital media, YouTube, social media and PR.
