The community has won many awards, and Fellowship Community offers residents beautiful independent living town homes and apartments, state-licensed personal care with a specialized memory care unit, as well as a nursing care centre which provides short-term rehab and post-acute care. HP170013 Fellowship Community is a continuing care retirement community that provides Christ- centered caring for seniors at every stage of life. We profiled the community and CEO, Robert Zentz provides us with a breakdown of the organisation’s mission and overall targets. At the age of 80 years old, Mr. Zentz is an active community leader, serving as Chairman of the board for a local hospital and he is also the president of numerous community organizations, whilst overseeing more than 350 employees at the continuing care retirement community. Interestingly, he has hired more than 30 staff members over the age of 70. Mr Zentz is quick to praise his employees. “Concerning our staff, they show up for work on time, serve as mentors to other employees and have a strong work ethic, our senior employees offer insight based on experience and that makes a tremendous impact on our staff. “As Fellowship Community looks to the future, we will keep our identity as a Christ-Centered organization and will continue to be an independent provider. Our goal is to strengthen our reputation for excellence in senior care by continually exploring and expanding our onsite services for residents based on a medical model with strong psychosocial and spiritual influences.” Under any circumstances and at any level of care, Fellowship Community provides quality memory support. Residents engage in physical and cognitive activities offered in small groups as well as individualized one- to-one memory care sessions. Programming includes art therapy, music therapy, reminiscent therapy, pet therapy and other varied personal approaches designed to align with the cultural and social patterns of residents it serves. From independent living caregiver support groups to a specialized secure memory support unit, Fellowship Community enhances the lives of residents facing memory challenges. Throughout every level of care, residents are treated with respect and dignity as individuals with unique life experiences and interests. Fellowship Manor is the only nursing care center in the Lehigh Valley and one of two in Pennsylvania to receive Post- Acute Care Certification from the Joint Commission. The nursing staff are specially trained to provide clinical care that meets the Joint Commission standards. The rehabilitation staff is highly skilled in physical, occupational and speech therapies that ensure patients reach the highest level of function in the shortest possible time. Regarding the services and programmes it offers, the community provides personalized support, state-of-the-art Best Residential Rehabilitation Facility – Lehigh County equipment and a high staff-to- resident ratio encourage the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of each resident. Physical therapy provides outcomes-oriented interventions to ensure each patient reaches the highest functional level and optimal quality of life. This treatment restores physical independence utilizing evidence- based practices. Treating each patient differently, individualized care for the patient is provided to promote increased strength and coordination, range of motion, and balance while also using a variety of ways to alleviate pain. Occupational therapy improves, develops or restores the sensory, motor, cognitive, perceptual and psychosocial skills that have been impaired by illness or injury. A patient’s individual treatment plans are developed focusing on increasing function through the use of therapeutic activities to increase self-care abilities, joint motion, muscle strength and coordination, enabling the patient to overcome physical, psychological, cognitive and visual limitations through the selective use of assistive devices, and compensatory techniques. Occupational therapy treatment also assists the patient to achieve an optimal level of independent functioning in activities of daily living.
