8 GHP / 2018 Private Healthcare Awards , PHA17003 Bristol Hand & Wrist Clinic Bristol Hand &Wrist Clinic is a specialist orthopaedic clinic based in Bristol and run by experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon Raj Bhatia, who is on the specialist GMC register as an accredited Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon and is a Consultant at Bristol Royal Infirmary, The Avon Orthopaedic Centre and Spire Bristol Hospital. We invited him to tell us more about his clinic and the range of treatments it offers. Bristol Hand & Wrist Clinic provides excellence in the treatment of hand, wrist and peripheral nerve conditions thanks to its leader Raj Bhatia, who is a Consultant Hand and Orthopaedic Surgeon. Raj has received specialist fellowship training in the UK and in Sydney, Australia and is widely published in his field. He treats acute injuries, chronic degenerative conditions and sports injuries. He discusses his clinic in more detail and outlines the services it provides. “Here at Bristol Hand & Wrist Clinic, we perform all aspects of hand, wrist and nerve surgery. We deal with the general public as well as with amateur and professional sports persons. We are the preferred Clinic for Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, Bristol Rovers FC and Bristol Rugby. We have also treated professional Golfers, Climbers and Tennis players. Our mission is to deliver a high quality, patient centred service. We achieve this by keeping up to date with the latest developments in hand and wrist surgery and by auditing our surgical results. The majority of our referrals are by word of mouth by clients who are delighted with their treatment. “What sets us apart from other clinics of this type is that we treat patients as individuals and equals and involve them in decision making with regards to their treatment. We are super specialists in hand and wrist surgery unlike competitors who are more generalists. Today’s private patients are more aware and research doctors prior to deciding whom they will consult. They rarely just take a recommendation from a GP, and as such they know what to expect, and we aim to exceed their expectations and provide a truly superior service.” Alongside his work at the clinic, Raj also shares his knowledge and experience through his many published works, as he proudly highlights. “Personally, I am widely published and my publications can be viewed on my website. I have published on hand injuries in professional county cricket. Recently, in December 2017 I was invited to give a lecture on ‘Hand Injuries in Professional Cricket’ at a multidisciplinary meeting in London titled ‘Management of Hand and Wrist Injury In Sport’. Sharing this information with the wider healthcare community benefits everyone, as it helps other professionals in this field to innovate and adapt to the latest discoveries that surgeons such as myself are making.” Ultimately, with over 20 years’ experience, and specialist recognition from all major insurers, every patient can feel assured that they will receive the very best care possible when they visit Bristol Hand & Wrist Clinic, and continuing to provide the very highest standard of support and service will remain its ongoing priority as the clinic looks towards an exciting future.
