Private Healthcare Awards 2021

4 GHP / 2021 Private Healthcare Awards , Feb21302 On the edge of a historic village and enjoying views of open countryside – sits Grangefield Care Home. This beautiful, boutique care home for the elderly has developed a strong local reputation for providing exceptional care to its clients. Awarded numerous accolades over the years, the home continues to set the benchmark in how to care for the elderly. Best Boutique Care Home – Northamptonshire Grangefield’s care philosophy has been built on the understanding that elderly people need love and understanding. They have earned the right to be respected and valued. This mantra vibrates throughout the home. Everyone in the organisation understands that ‘we do what we do for our clients – they come first.” “Our greatest asset is our wonderful and dedicated staff team,” beams Wendy Hambrook, Registered Manager at Grangefield. She continues, “Having the right team in place is essential for Grangefield since we set such high objectives. Being a small and close-knit home, allows us to be completely focused on our clients. Staff have a real sense of ownership and take huge pride in what they do.” Grangefield was converted into a care home in 1989 and purchased by Nikul and Archana Odedra in 2005. They have spent the last 16 years developing the home and its premises into a stylish, luxury home with attention to every detail. “Our aim has always been to create an elegant home that looks more like a boutique hotel than a care home,” explains Nikul Odedra, Co-Owner at Grangefield. He adds, “When you take pride in how a place looks and feels, it then sets the tone on how the home operates.” Unlike many other owners in the sector who visit their homes only occasionally – Mr Odedra is at Grangefield four days a week. This allows him to address any challenges early on and helps him to stay on top of the complex requirements of owning a care business, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic has put care homes at the forefront in the fight against protecting the elderly. Grangefield went to great lengths in successfully keeping the virus out of the home during the whole of 2020. The home then worked tirelessly to contain an outbreak in early 2021, working ‘above and beyond’ to nurse the affected residents back to health. A culture has been created within the home of fun and laughter by Mrs Hambrook. She spearheads an energetic team of staff, which lays on various activities that range from yoga and armchair aerobics to scrabble and arts & crafts. Residents can also enjoy a drink from the in-house pub. Grangefield even has its own Facebook page, which provides families with updates on activities and events. Using this platform, the home regularly uploads Tik Tok videos of staff and residents singing and dancing. As well as the care home, Grangefield has a separate homecare operation that helps elderly people to continue living in their own homes. Grangefield Homecare, as the service is known, has a dedicated and compassionate team of highly trained staff who go out of their way to help elderly clients remain safe and happy. By remaining small, this service is able to offer the attention to detail that larger agencies may struggle to provide. Grangefield Care Ltd Nikul Odedra, Co-Owner Website: www.grangefieldcare.co.uk
