Best Home Care Provider 2023 - West Midlands LR Homecare Ltd is a family-run domiciliary care company based in Brierley Hill, West Midlands, which was established approximately eight years ago with a main aim to provide the best care possible to its service users. The entire dedicated care team puts it clients as its main priority, striving to ensure that all service users are happy, and providing care consisting of anything from making a cup of tea, personal hygiene, and administering medication, to end of life care and 24-hour sitting services. Catering to anyone that needs care, ELR has a wide range of service users ranging from 18 years of age right up to the elderly, and has a diverse staff base with employees from all backgrounds. “We pride ourselves on providing person-centred care to our service users,” explains Emma Roberts, Managing Director of ELR. “This means our service users feel comfortable and our services give them independence within their own homes for as long as possible.” The company’s core values are plentiful and based on the views of its clients. As well as this, ELR tries to minimise the number of staff attending to service users so the staff can build a strong relationship of trust with the people they visit. As with many industries currently, one of the biggest challenges that the care industry faces is staff retention. This is due to the fact that, although it is a very rewarding career, it is also a very difficult job at times. Emma tries to offer her staff the very best employment terms, such as giving bonuses, incentive pay, and rewards such as carer of the month so that when a staff member goes above and beyond they receive recognition for their hard work. “We also like to buy gifts for staff members who have gone over and above or have helped out with covering calls, etc.,” says Emma. “The management team are always here to support the staff members, too.” Recently, ELR gained its own notable recognition for its devout dedication to the care industry and its clients, being named Best Home Care Provider 2023 – West Midlands in the Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Awards 2023. Understandably thrilled, Emma tells us that the award is a massive achievement for ELR and that she and the team are over the moon with it. It joins another notable award that the care firm received back in the Covid lockdown when it was given a hero award for being frontline workers. Now, the focus is on 2024 and Emma tells us that she has plans to grow the company even further, with lots of plans and ideas taking shape. “We are aiming to organise a charity family fun day of which our aim is to invite service users and their families to enjoy a fun event with us,” she enthuses. “There will be everything from cakes and bouncy castles to raffles and stalls. This will be the first time we have tried anything like this and we hope it will be a success.
