Q2 2021

Welcome to the 2021 Q2 edition of Global Health & Pharma Magazine, providing you with all the latest news and features from across the healthcare and pharmaceutical landscape.

While the last eighteen months have seen all industries demonstrating resilience and versatility in a period defined by adversity, few have matched the exceptional work of the global healthcare and pharmaceutical industries. These impressive feats are by no means limited to successful vaccine programme rollouts or treatment of Covid-19 cases – as individuals have become more aware of the importance of caring for our general physical and mental wellbeing during the pandemic, organisations across the industry have seen demand for their products and services soar.

That is certainly the case for the companies included in this quarter’s edition of GHP, including our cover company, BioMin Technologies, a leading researcher into dental sensitivity and developer of sensitivity relief and prevention products. We find out how this London-based start-up has grown since 2015 and plans to build on the momentum generated in online sales during the pandemic to see further growth that facilitates exciting advanced research into dental sensitivities.

Join us as we explore many of the other success stories to come out of this vibrant and valued industry over the past few months. Until the next issue of GHP, we wish you all the best for the months ahead.

Whilst 2020 may have proven to be a very difficult year for many, the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry was certainly pushed to its limits. Yet, just over twelve months on from the start of the pandemic and national lockdowns, there is sign of reprieve and hope that life can begin again. The rollout of vaccines in the fight against COVID-19 has proven to be a success, healthcare and pharmaceutical staff have given everything to help others, and the world is slowly but surely showing signs of returning to normal.

Speaking of returning to normal, many people will be yearning to get back to their hairdresser or barber and see to it that their hair is restored to its former glory. Q4 2020

Welcome to the Q4 edition of Global Health & Pharma Magazine, providing you with all of the latest news and features from across the healthcare and pharmaceutical landscape.

These past twelve months have certainly been a turbulent time, especially for those working within healthcare and pharmaceutical industry. Whilst some have had to shut their doors due to safety concerns, others have found great success.

For example, Fortress Diagnostics who develops, manufactures and supports an extensive portfolio of clinical diagnostic tests had to alter the way in which they shipped orders to ensure all customer needs were met. The result? The number of partners increased, plus their quality is much higher than it was previously.

This success story is just one of the many featured within the pages of this packed and insightful issue of Global Health & Pharma. For now, we hope that you stay safe and have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year, and we look forward to welcoming you back in 2021.

Q2 2020

Welcome to the Q2 issue of Global Health & Pharma Magazine – your source for the latest news and features from across the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries.

It’s been a strange time, though (maybe it’s the eternal optimist in me) it looks like things are changing. Tentatively, slowly, we’re seeing a shift towards ‘normal’, whatever form ‘normal’ might take going forwards. Where the world has seemed to slow to a snail’s pace, the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries have moved forward relentlessly. This dichotomy has never been more obvious than in the last few months. Healthcare never stops. It can’t – it’s fundamental. It’s a cornerstone to society. The entire industry, and its supplementary fields, keep the world moving. We’ve seen that now with perfect clarity.

With this issue, we want to showcase a selection of the businesses that don’t stop. That keep moving, onwards, further, higher.

In the meantime, I hope you all have a wonderful few months ahead. Stay safe and well.

I don’t think any of us expected to be writing automatic replies that spoke of “pandemics”, and its profound impact on day to day affairs. Yet, here we are.

It’s all a bit surreal. Anxiety and unease are high, and the best method for coping right now is to adopt the rather timeless approach of “keeping calm and carrying on”.

Naturally, while there are mentions of COVID-19 and the Coronavirus in this issue, we’ve tried to keep it to a minimum. After all, while it’s a good idea to stay informed and in the know, there’s such a thing as too much information. It’s OK – in fact, highly encouraged – to take a break. Do something fun. Something you enjoy. Take a moment for yourself.

Whether you’re self-isolating at home, on the frontlines in hospitals and surgeries across the world, or making sure your nations carry on, GHP News hopes you all stay safe and well. This too shall pass.

Q4 2019

Welcome to the Q4 issue of Global Health & Pharma Magazine – your source for the latest news and features from across the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries.

Another year done.

There’s something about breaking down the year into quarterly Editor’s letters that is quite surreal. It feels like a matter of a couple of months since I was writing about new beginnings and spring. Now, the nights draw in and the winter solstice is almost upon us. Shortly after that, we’re in a new decade. It’s all moving rather quickly.

However, for now, let’s keep our eyes firmly on the present and this issue of GHP. Our cover spotlight for this quarter is Medd, a specialised architecture and design company that focuses on the specific needs of the healthcare market. We spoke with Medd’s CEO, Miguel Moura Castro, who discussed the importance of keeping the patient in mind at all times and working to ensure that all spaces consider wellbeing and wellness: “It’s important to consider and think about those who will use the space every day and what they need the space to achieve.”

Elsewhere, we profile a leading non-surgical aesthetic treatment clinic, and a software compliance company that operates within the life science sector. Read inside to find out more.

Other than that, GHP Magazine hopes you have a fantastic rest of the year ahead, and a wonderful start to 2020.

See you all next year!

Q3 2019

Welcome to the Q3 issue of Global Health & Pharma Magazine – your source for the latest news and features from across the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries. This issue we have put a firm focus on holistic alternatives, and its changing role in the modern healthcare industry. Far from being a fringe practice, holistic healthcare is seeing a revitalised interest as people look for naturally-derived alternatives to traditional options.

With that thought firmly in mind, we profiled Sebastian Liew Centre Pte Ltd to see how Founder, Sebastian Liew is driving the alternative healthcare market in South East Asia. Specifically focusing on westernised herbalism, Sebastian has made a swift impression in the sector, with the hopes of growing his presence in the years to come. Inside, he discusses the benefits of being based in Singapore and what the future has in store for the centre.

Of course, we haven’t shunned modern medicine entirely. We spoke with Dr Stephanie Ooi, GP at MyHealthcare Clinic, to find out more about their private healthcare services and extraordinary expertise. From Dermatology to Gynaecology, and Psychology to Baby Osteopaths, this clinic is well set to provide best in class healthcare whatever the ailment or issue.

The global healthcare industry is diverse, expansive and, always, innovative: moving forwards, improving and evolving to tackle the challenges of the sector. So, this quarter, we have chosen to highlight some of these exemplars to see how they pursue perfection, whatever that may mean in their market. From ground-breaking dentistry to a world-leading communications agency, healthcare encompasses many things indeed, and all play a crucial role in the day to day operations of the industry.

First up, we spoke with Paul Hagopian, Co-Founder and Head of Client Partnerships of SPLICE Agency, a healthcare advertising agency in Emeryville, California. Following their recognition as the ‘Best Healthcare Communications Agency’ in GHP’s Private Healthcare Awards, we were eager to find out more about this essential area of the healthcare industry.

Later in the issue, we spotlight the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) to find out how they are supporting their members in all stages of the drug development process through a focus on science, careers and ‘community’. Walter Marlowe, Executive Director at AAPS, was eager to tell us more.

Q1 2019

The healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors rely on innovation to prepare for the challenges of the future. They rely on constant adaptation and development, showcasing a chameleonic ability to change to the demand and needs of the market and sector. This distinguishes them from other industries, where constant development is not quite as integral to day to day operations. Innovation is, by all regards, the lifeblood of life sciences.

First up in the issue is Clyz Labs. Founded in 2017, Clyz Labs utilises cutting edge technological innovations to spearhead their work in lung cancer research. Following the lab’s recognition in GHP’s 2018 Life Sciences programme, we spoke with Dr Himanshu Kataria, CEO and Managing Director of Clyz Labs, to find out more.

Elsewhere, Jan De Caluwe, a leading Implantologist in Antwerp, Belgium, offered insight into the sector’s immediate future. Recent years have triggered a paradigm shift in the industry, as it looks set to embrace the latest technological and operational advancements.

Here at GHP Magazine, we hope that you enjoy reading this quarter’s issue and look forward to hearing from you soon.

The animal health market has, over the last few years, become an incredibly competitive sector, with industry experts believing that it is in the middle of a period of immense year-on-year growth. This has moved hand in hand with the global health and wellness trend – to put it simply, people are eager to obtain a healthier, happier lifestyle for themselves and their pets as well.

On the cover of this month’s issue of GHP Magazine is Broadreach Nature +, an award-winning provider of naturally-formulated pet supplements. Having worked closely with Veterinarians across the UK, Broadreach’s Owner and Founder, Anne Wood, can be considered an expert in advanced animal supplements that – simply – work. We spoke with Anne to find out more about her pace-setting product line.

For StreetVet, animal health is defined by compassion. As an RCVS registered practice, they deliver free care to the homeless and their dogs in some of the largest cities in the UK. Sam Joseph, one of the Vets working at StreetVet, took some time out of his busy schedule to discuss the importance of their service and the help they provide every day.

Finally, staying with the theme of animal health, we profiled Techmira AG, who have created a revolutionary dental care product designed for dogs – Mira-Pet. Utilising their noted expertise in ultrasound technology, their toothbrush has been designed from the ground up to tackle plaque build-up and improve dental hygiene from the very first use, without a need for expensive professional veterinary procedures.

Here at GHP Magazine, we hope that you enjoy reading this quarter’s issue and look forward to hearing from you soon.
